The Hot Texas Oven

The day we left Texas, it was 102 outside with 80% humidity. The weather experts said it felt like 114. Trust me as we were loading up all of our belongings, we felt every degree of that. Aaron said he couldn't figure out why he was sweating so much. Ethan said he felt like we were in the Texas oven. I think we were. Half an hour after we left, it rained for the first time in 6 months. I think it was a sign.

Since arriving in Utah, we have had record breaking heat. It was in the low 90's last week. We have been really enjoying the spring-like weather. Yesterday it was 84 which is 12 above normal. It is dry up here. I miss the humidity. The difference here is that it gets cold at night. We open the windows at night, to let the cool air in. The weatherman yesterday, was complaining about how hot it is at night and I thought he was joking, but I think he was quite serious. He was complaing about how long it has been hot (one week). We would freeze if the weather was normal for this time of year up here.

The lack of humidity has been the hardest thing to adjust to. We actually had to buy lotion. I keep forgetting to put it on poor Vanessa and her little legs are all dried up. It is a new habit I'll have to get into. I guess we'll eventually get used to the weather up here, but every once in a while it would be nice to feel that hot Texas oven, but just for a short period of time.
