Last Friday night, Aaron and I went to his company's party. We went to a great Italian restaurant, Bucca di Beppo, in Salt Lake. They brought out huge plates of different kinds of food. We ate "family style" where we scooped off the main plate what we wanted to eat. You put a plate of pasta in front of me, and I will eat it. The best part of the dinner was the dessert. I love cheesecake and it was wonderful! Aaron passed on the cheesecake (I didn't think this was humanly possible, but it obviously is). He said he would rather have ice cream. I for one, would prefer any dessert that is baked. If it came down to it, I would choose cheesecake over ice cream any day.
In Aaron's honor, our FHE treat this week was homemade ice cream. I remember doing this as a kid. We had an antique crank ice cream maker. We kids would crank the handle as long as possible until our arm felt like it was falling off than, the next kid would take a turn. It's a good thing there were four-n-more in my family growing up. The end result made the sore arms all seem worth it. These days, we have an electric ice cream maker that I simply plug in and let it do it's thing.
I made vanilla ice cream, which is my favorite. A lot of people don't consider vanilla a flavor, but it is. I have to admit that if I go to a ice cream shop, I don't get vanilla, I choose a flavor that is vanilla with something mixed in. My favorite mix-in is Reese's peanut butter cups. Sometimes I go wild and get caramel and nuts. There was the time that I had birthday cake flavored ice cream. That was good! Again, it was vanilla with yellow cake mix in it. Now you know my flavor preferences. What are yours?
The kids seemed to enjoy the ice cream. Ethan said should rename it "Perfection". Next time, I'll go out on a limb and make Cookies & Cream but, can you have something better than perfection?

I love ice cream, but my teeth are so sensitive, I literally have to warm it up in the microwave, so I've never had completely frozen ice cream. But the ice cream I prefer to warm up in the microwave is Rocky Road, something about the marshmallows.
If you warm it in the microwave, doesn't it become Rocky Road soup?
I agree that cheesecake is the best. I'm not a big ice cream fan, but if I must, definitly CHOCOLATE and maybe some nuts. Rocky road is great but I'm not sure about rocky road soup?
I really like ice cream. I like cheesecake as well. I'm not sure what I'd choose in that instant.
The best ice cream I have ever had was some lemon custard gelato. It was so good. I do like chocolate with any type of peanut butter, but I have been trying different colors lately.
Elena-It must be genetic, you and Luisa both like chocolate ice cream with marshmallows.
Monica-I've heard good things about gelato. One of these days, I'll find some to try. It must be genetic, you and I both like peanut butter.
