Growing Up

Savanah lost her first tooth last week. She seems so young to me. Esteban claims he was five years old when he lost his first tooth. He was young also. I met Lauren when she was 5, now she's getting married.Savanah was ecstatic when she lost her tooth! She showed everybody she saw that day. The tooth fairy came and brought her four quarters. She thought she was rich. The first thing she wanted was to do with her money was to find the nearest gumball machine. I discovered the local grocery store doesn't have quarter vending machines so I ended up buying her and Vanessa a pack of gum. (Something that should have cost 50 cents, ended up being $2.oo. Such is life.) She told me the next day that she wished she still had her tooth so she could look at it. I gave it back to her saying that the tooth fairy must have dropped it. Savanah ran to put it back under her pillow in hopes that tooth fairy would bring her more money. The tooth fairy didn't leave money when she took the tooth a second time. (Aaron told me maybe the tooth fairy shouldn't be so cheap. I told him the tooth fairy didn't want to spend another $2.00 on gum so, the tooth fairy was just being practical).

As most of you know, I suffer from separation anxiety when I send my kids to school. Which is why I don't let them go to preschool. I'm just not ready to let them go yet. I have been teaching Savanah the alphabet and doing preschool at home. She enjoys it and so do I.
Yesterday, she had her kindergarten assessment. This is where the school assesses how prepared she is for school. They don't do this in Texas so, it was my first time being assessed as a teacher and I was very nervous. They took her into the Principal's office where they asked her about colors, letter names, and letter sounds. Vanessa wandered in the room with her and told her all of the names of the colors. I think she was just "helping". At another point of the assessment, Vanessa patted Savanah on the back and said to her, "Good Job, Nana". She even introduced herself to the principal. She walked right up to him and said, "I'm Nessa. I'm three." He was impressed but, not impressed enough to let her start kindergarten next year. She will be very disappointed next year when she realizes that she is not going to school with Savanah.

So, I have to face the facts. I have to let my little girl go. I've begged her to stay at home with me forever. She said,"No, I have to learn, Mom,". I find that so depressing.

What a big girl already loosing a tooth and getting ready to start kindergarten. Jonah lost his first tooth when he was in first grade, and so far he has only lost three. Hope you are all doing great. From Evelyn (I can't remember what my log in password is)

That is a little young to lose a first tooth I guess. Jacob asks me once in awhile when he'll lose his first tooth and of course I tell him I have no idea. She must have been so excited to get money from the tooth fairy. At their age any amount of money is a lot.

Sounds like you guys are doing great. I'm gearing up for baby #3 in September. Wish me luck!

Evelyn-It is great to hear from you. I can't believe Jonah is past the first grade.

Brenda-Thank you for the compliment.

Staci-Before you know it, he'll have a toothless grin. I wish she would always be ecstatic about receiving four quaters. (Not going to happen.) Congrats on the new addtion!
