UNDEFEATED!
Yep, Esteban's soccer team had a perfect season!
I was so nervous at the beginning of the season because they moved up a division. That didn't slow them down. They did great and it was fun to cheer them on.
Esteban had a great individual season as well. His pre-game routine took over an hour (if there were chores that needed to be done then it took two hours). He would eat a light meal (preferable pasta), drink water, and eat a banana (for potassium). He would put in his contacts and dress in his uniform. Then, he would listen to his "sports prep" playlist and watch old footage of Pele. Esteban had to be on the field 30 minutes before the game. He went early and stayed late for most practices. It all paid off.
Yesterday, we hosted a party for the team. They played a pick up game of soccer in the backyard with the pond, bridge, barn, and multiple trees as obstacles.
What does it take to feed that many 13 year old boys? Pizza, lots of pizza.
Their coach handed out trophies at the party. They were disappointed the trophies didn't say, "Undefeated. Best team in the World" They had to settle for "1st Place" The trophies did come with bubble wrap so that was an added bonus.
It is sad to see the season come to an end. (I don't think my little girls will miss hours and hours of sitting on the sidelines.) It was a great season!
Congratulations on being number 1!!!

Thanks for hosting the party. It was a fun season to watch and they are a great group of boys.
Congrats!
What a little stud! I can totally relate to the pregame routine, I had my own in high school before basketball games (but not for volleyball, that is weird, never thought about that til this very minute...) that involved the movie Hoosiers, and let's not forget the "lucky" socks and pony tail holder which HAD to be part of the ensamble! I love the way you write,Colette, 100% real-life! You are awesome! Thanks for sharing the fun!
