My Big Idea

I came up with a idea this year to help with the holiday spirit. I decided the kids were old enough to really understand giving. Over the next two weeks, I will take each one to the dollar store to buy gifts for their siblings. It is 0ur way of stimulating the economy and single-handedly keeping the dollar store in business. If the kids don't have their own money to spend, they have the opportunity to do extra chores to earn money.

Savanah decided to dress the part.I kept waiting for her to break out singing, "Sing, Sweet Nightingale" but, she didn't.

I let them pick out, purchase, and wrap the presents. Didn't Vanessa do a great job?

As soon as AJ walked in the door from school Vanessa promptly told him what his present was. (As if he couldn't tell from the wrapping.) Now that there are actually presents under the tree, she is even more excited for Christmas to come. She asks me every morning if she can open her presents. It's going to be a long two weeks. Whose "big idea" was this anyway?

That's a great idea!! Ask your kids if my house is next!! We draw names so the kids only have to buy one present, but they all have to buy it themselves! It's pretty funny watching them get creative and also what they "think" they should get paid for! When do we get paid?!?

I like that idea. I should try that with Milo. Maybe not this year, but next year when Holly might understand more.

I really like that. I like hearing ideas to help make Christmas less about getting and more about giving. I heard on the news that most dollar stores are flourishing right now. Way to do your part. The big 3 would do a lot better if they just sold their products for a dollar. I tell ya....Honks has the right idea.
