Saturday was Aaron's birthday. He wanted to spend his special day on the beach. We randomly stopped at La Jolla Cove. We were some of the first people on the beach as you can see from Vanessa's tracks left on the sand.
The girls loved the many hideouts near the beach. Am I raising pirates or something?
When we arrived, we noticed a couple of seals nearby. Enjoying the sunshine just like us.Here is a nice photo of Aaron and Vanessa.
Here is a not-as-nice photo of Vanessa and me.
Ethan loved the waves in spite of the fact that the water was really cold.
In fact, the water made his foot so numb, he didn't even know he received a big gouge on the bottom of his foot till we were leaving the beach.
The kids loved building "sand castles" and watching as they were swept off to sea.
Aaron and I enjoyed sitting back while watching the kids play. It was the first time we have been to the beach without a baby or a toddler. We enjoyed not worrying about one of the kids being swept out to sea.
Here are a few photos of my "babywatch babes"
Speaking of babe, that's what I'm talking about, farmer tan and all.
Aaron thought it was the perfect way to spend his birthday, sitting on the beach in the sunshine.
After the beach, we went to a fantastic little Italian restaurant and a movie.
All vacation days and birthdays should be like this. Happy Birthdy, Aaron!

Sounds like a great Birthday!
We went to that bench when we went to San Diego and I loved it!!
I love your pictures, totally worth toting the big camera bag all over for shots like that. And the Baywatch babes? Love it! (And I am a little jealous that your 5-year-old appears to have some cleavage going on? Come on, that's just not fair, I'm a 30-something and have nothing of the sort!). Your pictures (and relaxed tone of your text even) make me miss the ocean!!
