Muffins with Mom

I just returned from "Muffins with Mom" at the boy's school. Last week was "Donuts with Dad." It's a program the PTA started to get parents in the school to eat breakfast with their kids. I was just happy they bought the muffins. When our oldest started kindergarten, we ate lunch with him one day. The food in the cafeteria tasted exactly like it did when we were in elementary school 20 years ago. I would think they could find a new recipe or two. That was the last time we ate school lunch. Now, we take food with us when we visit. Trust me, a McDonald's hamburger is better than the school's. The muffins were okay and eating with the boys made it worth getting up and dressed this morning. Steb even gave me a hug when he left the cafeteria. I know he will soon to be "too cool" for his parents. The hug was unexpected, yet very appreciated. It takes so little to make the day of a mother a sunny one.

i am sad that school lunches are still the same. i thought after all these years, they would have improved those yucky lunches. except for the hot chocolate pudding. i still love that stuff.

Yeah, you'd think modern technology could help the school lunch program. The boys don't seem to mind. They just want to get outside to recess. I guess we were the same way.
