The Piano

As most of you know, Aaron and I both play the piano. I have wanted a piano for a long time.

When we moved into this house, my desire for a piano increased. Aaron's sister agreed to teach the boys piano lessons. I just needed a piano. I mentioned this to a friend just in passing. Her mom, who has a master's degree in music and has taught piano lessons for years, called me a few days later saying she bought a piano from the DI (the equivalent of Salvation Army for the LDS church). When she got it home, she wasn't satisfied with the sound. She took the piano apart key-by-key, cleaned it, and filed down the hammers with an emery board. The work she did really made a difference on the sound. Then she came across the opportunity to buy a baby grand if she could sell this piano so, she called me. The interesting thing is, that same week a check came from somebody in Texas who owed us money. We had forgotten about this debt and the money came as a complete surprise.
I am now the proud owner of a piano. It is old and not fancy, the sound is not perfect but, it plays. I wanted a piano the boys can learn to play on that didn't cost a fortune. The keys are chipped and the wood has scratches. My old piano fits well into my old home. The scratches and chips fits well with my family. When they all become concert pianists, than I'll be the one looking for a baby grand. For now, this is more than what I could have asked for. It is perfect for me!
