I was invited to go with a group of friends to see Twilight on Friday. My sister drove an hour to stand in line for an hour to watch it with me. I'm sure she enjoyed hanging out with married women expressing their devotion to fictional characters. My sister in Austin was also watching it at the same time which gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. I'd say the audience was 98% women most of which had read the books. We all ooohed and aahhhed at places that I'm sure, those who didn't know the story wondered about.

Here's my take. The movie was great! I can't wait to see it again! Alice and Bella was perfect casts. Rosalie wasn't what I thought she should be but, she did a good job with the character. The rest of the vampires were okay. I liked the cast of Charlie. Jacob was adorable and for a split second that I considered switching to Team Jacob. I didn't like the casting for Edward but I thought he did a great job acting and he has grown on me. I loved the version of Bella's Lullaby and I liked that the movie stuck mostly to the storyline in the book.
It took $37 million to make the movie. This weekend, as #1 in the box office, it brought in $70 million and was 3rd highest ever in advanced ticket sells. The soundtrack is #2 on iTunes but, why they only sell the entire album is beyond me.
I think every woman should read the books since so many women have read them. I get asked on the bus, when I get my hair done, and pretty much every where I go, "Have you read the vampire books?" Now we can add the movie to the list on discussions. It was a fun way to spend a girls night out. I'm just happy to think I was there and part of it all.
