When I grow up.....

Nanny told me today, "When I grow up I want to be a boy." I think this is a consequence of having 3 older brothers. She loves her boys and, yes, she believes they belong to her. The boys asked me why girls are so bossy. I told them I'm bossy because I'm the mom. Nanny is bossy because she thinks she is their boss. She wants to marry Jaker, her six year old brother. She also believes she is bigger than he is.

Air's little sister Tia, seems well adjusted and she had 5 older brothers. She is now a beautiful ballroom dancer. I have a friend, Jess, who grew up with 8 brothers and no sisters. She is now raising 3 boys and desperately wants a girl.

I had two older brothers. I remember wanting to play with them and not being able to keep up. I survived, even though they told me eat grass in order to be as tall as our horse. I think the grass actually stunted my grow.

Raising girls is very different from raising boys. She is a lot more emotional and moody. She is also a lot of fun. She likes to shop and play house. She knows when to smile and give hugs & kisses to her advantage, such as, when she wants to stay up late. We are happy that our girls came along and we are learning that we have to be a different parent for each child.

I think my memory has tried to suppress that horrible image. I worry it will haunt us the rest of our lives. I'm afraid you got the full view. I only had a glance and that was more than I needed. Maybe that is really what stunted my growth.
