Girls

I have a new book to add to my list of favorites. It is called Girls A-Z, written by Eve Bunting and illustrated by Suzanne Bloom. It is a cleverly written book that names 26 girls, in 26 occupations, that coordinates with the letters in the alphabet, and it all rhymes.

The last page reads:
"Girls,
Be anything you want to be.
Do what you want to do.
Dream any dream you want to dream.
The world is here for you."

Girls, today, have so many opportunities. I want my girls to understand they can be anything they want to be, even if it is simply being a wife and mother. I realize it is a blessing that I am able to stay at home with our children. I choose to cook and clean. I'm grateful that I have a career to return to when my kids are gone, but I have "found myself" more being at home than I ever did having a career.
