The Road Not Taken

When the sidewalk gets buried by a winter storm, it is hard to clear the snow because I can't tell where it sidewalk turns and where it doesn't. It doesn't really matter if the walk is cleared or not for Vanessa. She prefers to walk in the snow next to the sidewalk. Everywhere we go she refuses to walk on the sidewalk. She'll even walk in the snow as we go to church. She doesn't seem to mind her wet shoes and cold tights. She always has been the type to choose the road not taken.

I was 22 yrs old the first time I ever saw snow. Randy and I were dating and he took me to Abilene for winter break from school. It snowed the day after we got up there. I was so excited, I got dressed and went outside to play in the snow. When we came back in the house, I realized I was soaking wet and asked Randy why. He gave me this puzzled look and said, "Maybe because snow is basically water." I had no idea!! Not one of my smarter moments, but hey, I had an excuse...I'm from the Valley.
PS Speaking of Vanessa, I remember when I found out you were expecting her, it seems like yesterday!

Snow can be very interesting especially to those of you who haven't experienced it on a yearly basis like some of us. After spending so many winters in Texas, I realized, you haven't missed that much.
P.S. I remember when I found out I was expecting Vanessa and how surprised I was at my first doctor's appointment that I was already 20 weeks along. She has been surprising us her entire existance.
