Duck, Duck, Goose

Family prayer with four-n-more is always and adventure. Lately, whenever we kneel to pray as a family, Vanessa starts to play Duck, Duck, Goose. She'll tap each of us on the head as she goes around the circle. She has a hard time understanding why nobody follows her when she runs away. It makes it very hard to concentrate on the prayer.

Jamie learned this little saying while teaching nursery and it has helped us with prayer time (I think the actions that go along are self explanitory):

"We shake our hands, we roll our hands, we give our hands a clap, we raise our hands, then bring them down and fold them in our lap. We hush our feet, we rest our feet, we sit straight in our chair, we close our eyes, we bow our head, we're ready for the prayer."

Then we start right into the prayer. It seems to have helped the kids be more ready for the prayer and Abby hasn't needed coxing to say the prayer when it is her turn.

Thanks for the advice. Anything is better than Duck, Duck, Goose.

Family prayer is beginning to be challenging for us, that had never happened. Mia and Raul now fight every time we're going to pray because they both want to offer it. I didn't want to discourage them so we came up with the solution of two prayers, each takes a turn. Let's see how it'll work out. Who knows, maybe we'll be doubly blessed. Besides, I figure it's better than no one wanting to say it!

If someone was going to think of Duck, Duck, Goose during a prayer, it had to be Vanessa!

ROFLMHO! Ok seriously...is this not the truth? We only have TWO and prayer time is a serious task. It's so hard to discipline, when you're trying so hard not to giggle yourself. LOVE the duck, duck goose. That is SO something our little Seneca would do.
