The last time I went to this pageant was when I was a teenager. Aaron had never been even though it is only a few miles from his hometown. The boys weren't sure what to expect. In fact, AJ told his friend, "I get to stay up till 11:00 tonight, but it's going to be pure torture because I have to go to a play."
The pageant takes place in the small rural town of Clarkston where Martin Harris is buried. The outdoor amphitheater in actually next to the cemetery. The story is based on the life of Martin Harris, one of the Three Witnesses to the Book of Mormon and friend to Joseph Smith. The pageant really brought his story to life and made him seem like a real person (imagine that, he was a real person). I learned several things about him that I didn't know before. I thought the pageant was great. AJ told me he liked it and it wasn't torture at all.
P.S. We did learn some things for next time. 1- Take pillows to sit on. 2-Patrons are allowed to take snacks as long as they clean up after themselves. 3-Jackets would be nice once it gets dark.
