Cold Play

Esteban started playing soccer when he was four years old. In Texas, they played in the spring and the fall so the temperature wouldn't be too hot. There were a few games he played when the temperature hit 90. If it was rainy or the temperature dipped below 60 the soccer games were cancelled. Not here.

He had a soccer game last Saturday. It was bitterly cold. This year he has played in the rain and even snow. They only cancel games when there is lightening.
He wore pants, shorts, two pairs of socks, long sleeved shirt, two short sleeved shirts, two pairs of gloves and a stocking hat. (It was easy to know which kid was mine. For some reason he was the only one with a burnt orange hat.)
He stayed warm, even though I did not. (I won't list how many layers of clothes I had on).
Luckily, one of the parents brought this heater thing that the team and coaches could gather around during half-time. They went on to win this game and become Division 2 Champs. The indoor soccer season is about to begin. At least it is indoors.

I think Texans tend to be a little whimpy when it comes to weather. My kids don't get to go to recess if it has rained recently or if it was really humid and there is condensation outside.
Texans complain when it is hot, they complain when it is cold. They complain about the drainage (seriously, its gone in a few hours, it isn't like snow that can stick around for months), they can't drive when it is foggy, or raining. Honestly, weather in Texas is so predictable and uninteresting, except the occasional hurricane, that I don't know what all the complaining is about.
Bailey want to play soccer. I told him that next year we can play soccer. He is really excited.

It's true. The weather in Texas is pretty predictable. The problem comes when things are out of the ordinary (like rain or a cool front). Bad weather is so rare that it is hard to deal with.

Up here, people have to learn to deal with bad weather. There is no choice. It's going to be around for a few months instead of a few days.

I think you are right, I guess since I grew up where you are that I can't help thinking about snow piles and below zero weather when people complain about things in Texas. I sure wish some of them could spend some time in Utah. Then again, some Utahans should spend time in Texas.

The switching places is a great idea!
