What I Learned

The holidays came and went. I learn new things every year. This year I learned the legend of the poinsettia. My mother loves this flower and has fresh poinsettias in her house every year. Now, I know why.

I also learned about the dreidel used in celebration of Hanukkah. It is a fun game!

I also learned (the hard way) not to procrastinate my "to do" list. Next year, I hope to send cards earlier, finish shopping a week before Christmas instead of starting at that point, and have neighbor gifts ready to go. (This year we gave out New Year's Eve treats. Now, that really is procrastination.)

All in all, I loved the holidays! I love celebrating the birth and life of my Savior, Jesus Christ. That is what Christmas is really all about. Everything else is just fluff and that's what I really learned this year.

So what is the legend of the poinsetta anyway?? I'd like to hear it. I'm glad you guys had a wonderful christmas. Ours was good too, I too wish I spent more time enjoying the birth of the savior and the true meaning of christmas and less time worrying about decorations, gifts, holiday plans, etc. I guess all we can do is try harder next year not to procrastinate! It just sneaks up on you. Who was it to call and rub it in about the beautiful weather and the kids being barefoot? Was it Charlene? I liked their christmas card with them lounging outside drinking lemonade.
p.s.-i talked to Kimberly yesterday and she told me about them splitting the ward. She's NOT happy and many are upset.

I have a link to the legend of the poinsetta in my post if you click on the word "legend". Let me know if it doesn't work.

Of course, it was Charlene who called. Michelle was in on it too. The Rawlings, Jorgensens, and Blomquists were all partying without us. I think about their kids playing outside barefoot everytime it takes me 15 minutes to get my kids bundled up enough to let them out the door. Charlene's christmas card this year was definately a classic!

We heard about the ward split shortly after it happened. I was talking with Aaron about which ward the Smiths, Lears, Masks, your family, and my family would be in when I realized suddenly that none of us live there anymore. (It is always strange when I realize I really don't live in Texas).

I think change is always hard at first but, it is almost always a good thing in the end.

So glad you guys had a great holiday. I got a new laptop and forgot to move over the link to your blog to my new laptop, so I have missed keeping up with your fam. Glad to see that things are going well for you! We miss you out here!!!! Also..question for ya...what exactly IS the "best seasoning salt ever?" We love it and use it all the time still....did you make it?

I did make the season salt. I was given the recipe with the strict instructions to not share it. Sorry.

We think of all our friends in Riverton often. I keep up with your blog as well. Thanks for the comment.
