Geography Bowl

Ethan recently made the geography bowl team in his class. He wasn't sure whether he would make the team or not. It came as no surprise to me when he made it, he remembers anything he reads or hears. Memorizing facts is nothing for him.

Last week, they competed against the other fifth grade classes in the school. Their team name: The Super Knowvas.
A geography bowl is very interesting. The kids sit with dividers in between them. Each is given a white board and a dry erase marker.
The principal was the moderator.
He would ask a question such as "What two states border Florida on the North?", the students would right their answer, and then he would ask the kids who wrote the correct answer to show their boards. The competition is fierce. As parents, we have taken turns teaching them after school or during lunch hour for the last couple of months. I know more about US geography than I ever wanted to know.

The good news is, they won the school's competition. They did great! In two weeks, they go on to district competition, where the competition is even greater. We are now going in during their PE for an hour each day. They are cramming their little hearts out. I'll let you know how it goes. Good Luck Ethan!

P.S. This song is Ethan's favorite song.
