Some-Some-Summertime

Now that the weather has turned off cold. I thought I would finally write a post about our summer. It's so nice to look back at shorts, T-shirts, and tans. I miss summer already.

It all started with our annual "End of School Year Bon Fire" where all the kids burn their school work. Esteban said, "You smell that stench? That's seventh grade going down in flames."
As an employee of the school district, my family was able to go to a huge party at the park. Savanah received a tiara in the fish pond. Everyone should wear a tiara to the playground. The fourth of July marked our annual trip to the Lewiston Parade. AJ is at the age when he thinks all girls have a communicable disease. When the "royalty" went by on the floats, he turned around in protest.Let's face it. When it comes to parades, it's really all about the candy. It is always that time of year that I am reminded that I married a pyromaniac. Aaron spent $100 on fireworks.
I told him we should just light $100 bill on fire and watch it go up in flames. Ethan responded that the thing that matters the most is all the time we spend together as a family and the memories we are building together. Yep, $100 up in smoke in the name of family bonding.
My good friend Natalie and her kids came to visit one day. She is the type of friend that I haven't seen in years, yet it seems like we haven't missed a thing. We never ran out of things to talk about. We just ran out of time. It was great spending the day with them.
When I first met her she had two kids and I had three. Now look at the group.
I took AJ and the girls to the Oquirrh Mountain temple open house (Aaron and the older two had gone with the Young Men's group from church earlier in the week.) We went to out to eat right before we went to the temple. AJ ordered a chili cheese burger. I warned him about getting stains on his shirt. His shirt remained just as white as when we walked in. I, on the other hand, spilled fry sauce (a Utah thing) on my shirt as I ate the last french fry. Go figure.

I took a picture of the kids in front of the water fountain. Then, they insisted on taking a picture of me in front of the water fountain. It was a fun summer with lots of memories I just wanted to share.

I like the end of the year homework burning! My kids would groove on that. We both married pyros.. our biggest tradition over here including flames, is filling our jack-o-laterns with lighter fluid on Halloween night.. and throwing a match in them. Try it. Your boys will be impressed. Thanks for sharing your fun summer....

Fun summer.. Loved it all but hated the part that you said you wish summer wasn't over. Like we have always said "we are the same in every way except the weather!"

Love Ya

I love the school work burning. I must say I think that would be the highlight of our lives. My boys jump for joy the day school lets out.
