Life is Better With a Sister

Life is always good when my sister is in town.

While Laurann was here we enjoyed the Homecoming football game. I LOVE that my sister likes football as much as I do. Although at that particular game we were more interested in the mums than the actual game. (See previous post.)

We sent the kids off to school the next morning and headed out to get pedicures. This is one of our favorite ways to spend time together. I wanted to try a new salon in the neighborhood and it proved to be quite swanky.
The best part of the pedi was the entertainment. Sitting just across the aisle from us was a group of real housewives. Just like the ones on TV.

They talked about their sons playing football, their daughters on the cheer squad, how they were going out for drinks for lunch, and how much they tip their babysitters. The hardest part was not making it completely obvious that we were listening to every word they said. It was like a pedi and a show wrapped into one.

After lunch at my favorite mexican food place, we went cupcake shopping. I like to refer to it as market research. She is considering eventually opening a cupcake shop.

That night we went to Ethan's football game where we nearly froze to death. Yep, here in Texas it does get cold on occasion. Since she was coming to Texas she only brought shorts and flip-flops Well, a cold front front pushed through right before the football  game and with the wind blowin' it was down right chilly. Thank goodness for concession stand hot chocolate!!

While she was here we went clothes shopping since she needed to buy a sweater and a scarf to wear in the cold weather. She helped me find an outfit to go with my boots that I have been wanting to wear. She taught me how to do my make-up so I can fit in with the previously mentioned "housewives". I introduced her to the world of Pinterest.
I would like to think we are both both better off after her visit.

We spent the last two days enjoying hanging out on the couch listening to General Conference.
It was so nice having her here. I love her deeply and admire her for all that she is and does. When I grow up, I want to be just like my little sister.
