Today, I went a Relief Society gathering. There is a great number of women in the ward that prefer to get together during the day. Today, it just so happened, I was the only one there who prefers to speak English. It was good practice for me. I can speak Spanish, it is just painstakingly slow and I can only speak in the present tense. This is a good thing, right, I can't waste time wishing for the future or holding grudges from the past. I have found the Latina sisters are very open. They just smile as I flub my way through teaching them something in a foreign language. I'm not sure who was teaching who. This whole area is truly is a blend of two worlds. The Latin culture has tremendous influence here, and yet, we still have the luxuries that come from living in the United States. I love our little ward. Where I sit next to a woman whose culture, skin color, and language is different from mine and yet, she is my sister. My heart tells me it is so.
