The Potter Plot
J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series of books reported yesterday that at least two main characters will die in her new book due out next summer. She did not say whether they were good or evil characters simply they were characters she did not intend to die. This is just enough information to drive those of us Harry Potter fans crazy with speculation. Everyone in our family believe that one of the characters to die will be Snape. Ethan believes that both Harry & Voldemort will die, but I find that a bit depressing. A few years ago, I asked Aaron who he thought Harry Potter would marry (this was before Harry found love in book 6). Aaron told me he doesn't speculate about the futures of ficticious characters. Now, that's no fun. So, here's a question. Who do you think will die in the 7th book?

This is a hard question to answer. I think that any of them are vulnerable. I think that Harry will live, but then again, I guess she could kill him off.
You didn't say who you thought would be killed off. What do you think?
Also, where did you read about the release date for the book being next summer?
i think the books will end with harry dying. as well as voldemort. they both have to die in order to achieve balance with the force. or maybe i'm getting my books and movies mixed up....
I think the Snape theory is a good one, but then I have to wonder which side will kill him? Will it be murder? I love Harry too much to let him die and I hope that J.K. feels the same way about him. Thus, I am left hoping for the death of Voldemort leaving my beloved Harry to get married, have four-n-more children, and live happily ever after.
As far as the release date, I heard that on the radio. The sooner the better as far as we're concerned.
Speaking of Star Wars, Twinkie, the boys are really into them right now, AJ posed his own trivia question today, Who is smarter Obi-Wan or Anakin? This is just another puzzling question to keep you awake at night.
letty, tell aj that obiwan is definitely the smarter of the two. anakin let his anger and emotions run him while obiwan didn't and ended up getting translated in the end. along with yoda. i think yoda is still the wisest of all of them. but obiwan is a close second.
I am very attached to Harry as well and hope to high heaven it is not him. It just wouldn't be right and she might go from being the richest woman in the UK to richest and most hated woman in the world. Besides, the prophecy said that one or the other must die. I like the Snape theory too. But perhaps it will be Draco, I'm sure he will figure more prominately in the final book. If you look at the books they kind of follow a pattern. The 6th relates back to the 2nd a lot and the 5th relates back to the 3rd a lot. The 4th kind of stands alone and so it stands to reason that the 7th will go back to the 1st a lot. That's where we might find clues to the 7th book! There's a literary style that follows that pattern but I can't remember what it's called- maybe Twinkie (english major that she is) will know. Okay, okay, way more than you wanted to know!I just love Harry. For a fun website when you've got an hour or two, try theleakycaldron.com it's a fun one full of theories on the whole series. dumbledoreisnotdead.com is also a fun one. Some of the contributors are a little overboard on their study of the books but it's fun to read their thoughts on it!
Twinkie, I agree with you that Yoda is the wisest of them all. The boys checked out some Stars Wars books from the library yesterday. They are adventure books written about Anakin's apprenticeship. Anyway, there once was a jedi of the same species of Yoda, only she was a girl named Yaddle. She died a tragic death saving a city. A girl version of Yoda, now that's smart.
Mickeykate, I have thought you were so cool my entire life. Your comment makes me even more certain. Literary styles of Harry Potter, now that is interesting. I might have to start thinking harder. Thank you for the website referrals. We'll check them out. Lastly, I'm happy that you want Harry to live a happy and productive life as well.
Not to carry this on too long but over the weekend I was thinking about it and maybe she'll kill off Hagrid. She seems determined to take away any kind of parent figure harry has-???? just a thought
We continue to talk it over and noticed the deaths of characters keep getting closer to Harry. First a friend, then his godfather, and eventually, his mentor. Who will be next? Hagrid would fit the profile, but that makes me depressed to even think about
