The Day has Arrived!

The last installment of the Harry Potter series will be released at midnight tonight. Harry Potter fever has definitely infected our home recently. In preparation for the seventh and final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, we have been reviewing J.K. Rowling previous books. Ethan recently read through all 6 books. Aaron recently re-read the last two books and I am half-way through the sixth book. We have 2 books reserved for tonight. We are planning on attending the party at the neighborhood Borders and being there at midnight for the release.

We find ourselves debating, speculating, and salivating at the thought of the upcoming release. Is Snape a friend or foe? Is Dumbledore really gone for good? Will Harry return to Hogwarts?Who will live? Who will die? Is Harry going to die in the end? Savanah told me Harry was going to die. She said, rather matter-of-factly, "He's already dead. He's not even real." This comment brought me back to reality that it is fiction, after all.

Recently, we purchased a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans made by Jelly Belly. The flavors include: Black Pepper, Booger, Dirt, Earthworm, Earwax, Grass, Pickle, Rotten Egg, Sardine, Sausage, Soap, and Vomit. The ones that I was courageous enough to actually eat tasted pretty realistic. The dill pickle tasted like a pickle with the sweetness of a jelly bean. (It's hard to explain.) I have to wonder, how do they create vomit flavored candy? Who are the testers? Who wants to remember, analyze, and recreate what vomit tastes like? The even bigger question is - Who is crazy enough to pay money for it? The answer is us, and millions of other Harry Potter fans.

I had never really paid attention to the Harry Potter movies, much less the books. But this last movie impressed me, so I went home and watched all the movies in just a couple of days and I am now reading the first book. I'm going to have to join you now and say, "I love Harry Potter!"

I am so proud of you! I think they are good books for all to read. Harry Potter and the Socerer's Stone was the first "chapter" book each of my boys ever read. We are a "Harry Potter" family.
