Christmas Morning

It's only Christmas Eve on my blog. How sad is that? My poor neglected blog. If it's any consolation, I just took down the Christmas decorations yesterday.

It started snowing the night of Christmas Eve. We were in for a White Christmas, which was fine with us because we weren't going anywhere the next day. It was fun to watch it snow from inside our warm house.

I love Christmas morning! I have the hardest time waiting for the kids to wake up. Christmas is all the more fun as a parent. I am always tempted to wake up the kids really early. This year I was so tired that we all slept in till 6:00am except for Ethan who woke up at 4:00am and watched a movie to kill time. Do you remember the anticipation of Christmas morning when you were a kid? I remember one year that I laid awake most of the night. I would get up and go to the bathroom every hour on the hour because that would kill 2 minutes that I wouldn't have to watch the clock. My mom didn't appreciate my strategy because it kept her awake as well. I do like Ethan's idea better.

We let the kids open their stocking while they wait for everybody else to wake up. Aaron and I noted this is the first year there weren't any little toys in the boys stockings. It was all electronics such as Game Boy games, games for the computer, and movies. Santa also leaves snacks and candies in their stockings.

This year we kind of just let them open presents as they came. It gave Aaron and I the chance to be with each of the kids one-on-one. AJ was the next one awake.

Esteban followed and then Savanah who was happy she received the Hannah Montana doll that actually sings. One of the nice things about her birthday being right before Christmas is we were able to make it right this time.

Vanessa was happy when she woke up. She received a Care Bear, but was most excited about the lip stuff in her stocking.
We enjoyed the rest of the morning as the kids played with their new things. Esteban showed me his new Game Boy DS and it made me want to get one. Maybe next year. They are pretty fun!

Savanah enjoyed the pop tarts that Santa brought in her stocking. Her and Vanessa had ones with Barbie on them. Pop tarts are rare around here so it is a nice treat for Santa to leave them (plus it means that I don't have to fix breakfast on Christmas morning).

Both of our parents came to visit later that afternoon which was nice. They they traveled so we didn't have to. It was a very nice day. I love Christmas and I am always sad when it is over and I have to wait 364 more days to do it all over again.

P.S. I can take video with my new camera so here is an experiment I would like to share. Merry Christmas!
