Home Again

As kids, whenever we went out with my Grandma, upon our return to her house, she would always say, "Home again, home again. Jiggity, jog." I don't know what that means, but I know how it feels.

We made it home yesterday after only 25 hours in the car (tied a record). I am always grateful to find that our house didn't burn down while we were gone. I am also grateful the van didn't break down. The Suburban broke down in Gallop, New Mexico on one of our many past trips, a trip I would like to forget.

The kids did amazingly well inspite of the long ride. They were happy to be home and play with their toys in their rooms. It was nice for all of us to be back in our own beds. After driving throughout the night, it was just nice to sleep horizontally.

Savanah and the boys were wrestling in the living room last night when Savanah fell and hit her head on the rocking chair. Yep, we found ourselves in another "procedure room" at the doctor's office as she had 4 staples put in the back of her scalp. I'm grateful it happened at home instead 1700 miles from our doctor. Poor girl, that's twice in the last month. It was not a nice ending to a very nice vacation.

I recalled the same memory of coming home to Grandma's house.

I came across a nursery rhyme in one of our books. I believe it is called "To Market". The nursery rhyme goes like this:

To market, to market, to buy a fat pig;
Home again, home again, dancing a jig.
To market, to market, to buy a fat hog;
Home again, home again, jiggety-jog.

It has been a really fun memory of Grandma.

Now, it will be hard not to think about a fat pig next time I return home.

If you do a google search for it, you can find some other variations. You make me laugh!

We are so glad to have you back! And you even get to enjoy the nice "warm" Cache Valley weather that we have had since you left!!

Yeah, it was in the upper nineties in Texas. We were in shorts & t-shorts all week.

It might be a record low today in Utah. I've been in pants & jacket all day. Vanessa just asked me why I'm wearing my jacket inside the house. I'm freezing! I really hope it warms up soon.
