Fastest Car Ever

Last week was the Pinewood Derby in Cub Scouts. This is where each boy is given a block of wood, four wheels, and a month to work with an adult to turn it into a car. AJ's car was the fastest car we have ever built. Now, doesn't he look happy to have his picture taken? Just look at that smile! Well, his car was definitely not the fastest car on the track. It was the fastest car we have ever built because we started at 8:00 in the morning and had to have it finished by 6:30 that night. He was happy with the design that he came up with. It probably needed a little more sanding but, to say the least, we were kind of pressed for time. He chose to paint it burnt orange, of course, and put Longhorn logos on it, of course. He received the Best Use of a Sports Mascot Award.
By the end of the night, after his car came in last place in every race I decided we probably need to put forth a little more effort next year and give ourselves at least two days.

I love it! Ya, he looks pretty happy with that car in his hand. Maybe next year he'll break some records, ya?

We're noot looking to set any records. Even second to last in just one race would have been nice.

Did you have the car already made? If so, that is terrible! Had I known you all were calling in sick we could've "borrowed" Sam's car. I'm sure it would have raced faster than poor AJ's car.

But he did such a great job. Who cares how fast it is, as long as it stays on the track, and he has fun. Next year you just hook up with Brian Davies. What ever he put on Tiler's wheels works. Tiler's blocky, camo truck won all but one of his races and then he got 2nd. Brian has the magic stuff!!
