My Baby Boy

I just realized that I never wrote a post about Esteban's birthday. This is bad except I write most posts 3 weeks after the fact anyway.

This is my baby boy who just turned 14.

I love this guy so much. I enjoy the adult conversations we have together. I appreciate all that he does to help me around the house and with the other kids. I love the intensity he has with everything he does. I look up to him in more ways than one.

For his birthday this year, he wanted to have an nighttime airsoft war with his friends. Why they enjoy shooting pellets at each other is beyond me. I guess it is a teenage boy thing.

They use pistols, shotguns, and machine guns to hunt each other down. All I have to say is that I'm happy we have patient neighbors. The rule is they can't leave our property but the sounds of machine gun fire extends throughout the neighborhood. Something about the darkness amplified the sounds this time. They look like the mafia while displaying their arsenal.

While they were here, I ran to the store to get some pizza. (I won't even mention how much pizza it takes to feed a room full of teenagers.) While I was carrying in the groceries,  one of the boys stepped from behind a tree and sprayed me with pellets. I yelled, "Hey. I'm the mom!" He felt horrible but I think it was because he thought I might withhold pizza from him for the pain he caused.

I'm so grateful Esteban has good friends. They are all fun guys and I have to giggle to myself whenever they come over. I figure if they have fun and we don't have to claim any injuries on our home owners insurance it's all good.

Cute post. I would have loved to see you take one for the team, glad they didn't tell you that it was me hiding in the trees shooting at you!!

I ran into Steb at church on Sunday and told him that is has turned into a man. I think I embarrassed him ~ he is such a remarkable young man but how could he not be with you and Aaron as parents!
