Sarah Banessa

Some of you may know that Vanessa is named after our close friend, Sarah Vanessa. We felt we couldn't call our little girl her by her first name, Sarah, or we would have 2 Sarah's in the family so, she has always gone by her middle name Vanessa.

When she started pre-school she decided she wanted to go by Sarah. That is the first name I taught her to write. Well, going by a different name takes some getting used to. Now, at preschool she goes by Sarah some days, Vanessa some days, and Sarah Vanessa some days.

She is at a really fun age as she is learning to recognize letters and their sounds. She is learning to write although, the "words" are mostly jibberish. Here's the problem: she argues with me that Vanessa should start with a "B". She said to me the other day, "Listen. B-B-Banessa." I told her it starts with a "V" like violin or valentine. She just looked at me like I was an idiot because those words start with a "B" too. Vanessa is a stubborn little thing that does not give in so for the time being, I'll let her be Sarah Banessa.

I have people ask me about Messy Nessy. I have to say she has kind of outgrown that stage (knock on wood). However, I discovered the other day that she wrote on the wall, door, and piano. She was wondering how I knew it was her. It reminded of me of when Esteban was her age. He wrote "Ethan" on the wall thinking it would get him in trouble instead. Since Ethan was barely two years old, it was easy to figure out the culprit. (We mom's are so smart!)

that is such a funny story about Esteban trying to get Ethan in trouble! Smart enough to get the other in trouble, but kinda forgot the brother can't write yet... hehe

She'll always be Banessa to Livvy :) Seriously, who thinks of writing his brother's name on things to avoid getting in trouble? That Steb, been a thinker from the get-go! Olivia has been the first of my kids to write on things other than paper (the dresser, dining room wall...) and is also struggling with honesty right now when she knows she'll get in trouble by confessing. But it is a dead give-away when the letters consist of O-l-i-v-i-a. She hasn't realized this yet!

We are smart aren't we Katlyn and my Neice were about 4 years old and wrote Alex and Kaken all over her bedroom wall and tried to blame it on Zak and Cameron who were about 2. At least Esteban wrote someone elses name!! And I'm sure Zadie will be doning the same as Venessa she is just as stubborn. Now she just tells us she is not a baby she is Zadie!
