Sunday Afternoon at The Mall

Most of you know that we don't shop on Sunday. When I say we spent Sunday afternoon at the mall I don't mean this mall.....
I mean the National Mall which includes......

The Capital Building
The Washington Monument (It was closed and under renovation due to the earthquake that shook Washington DC last year.)
The White House
The World War II Memorial
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial
(One of my favorite photos of the trip. I love Vanessa's reflection)
The Korean War Veterans Memorial
The Smithsonian Castle
The Reflecting Pool
The spot where Martin Luther King delivered his I Have a Dream speech.
The Lincoln Memorial
The Thomas Jefferson Memorial
This is what the trees around the Tidal Basin looked like while we were there.
This is what it will look like in a few weeks during the Cherry Blossom Festival.
We did the tourist thing and posed for photos throughout the park.
Everytime we visited the Mall.
We couldn't convince our boys to do the ultimate tourist thing and take a segway tour of the city.

We saw the Presidential motorcade. Twice. No photos though.

We enjoyed the sunshine with the rest of the city.
Aaron continued his admiration of trees.
We walked and walked and walked some more (Five miles in total).
Then rested as needed,
Hitched rides as needed,
and consumed patriotic popscicles as needed.
Most importantly, we pondered and reflected on what if means to be an American.
