South Padre Island

We made a visit to South Padre Island at the kids request. It has been years since we have been there. Aaron made the comment this was the first time we went without a baby to worry about. Yeah! We hit another milestone.
We took along our good friend, Sarah. She really is just part of our family. It was nice to spend the afternoon with her again. Notice her sunglasses. She lost them in the ocean. A little while later, a different pair (that she liked better) washed up on shore. What the ocean taketh away and the ocean giveth in return. I wish I had a picture of her new glasses.
The boys enjoyed playing in the waves with Sarah. The head you can't really see is Aaron. He's not drowning, he's just playing in the waves the same as the kids.Vanessa had no fear at all. Which is good and bad. I would have liked her to be a little more cautious around the big waves.Savanah enjoyed running along the water and picking up seashells. She was very cautious with the big waves.
I found it interesting that the kids played on their own. They each did their own thing. Later in the afternoon, they joined forces to catch little fish and clams.
It was a nice day. Listening to the sounds of the ocean was therapeutic as was watching the kids explore and enjoy.
It wasn't until the end of the day when we were all covered in sand, the van was covered in sand, and everything else we took was covered in sand that I was reminded how much work a day at the beach involves. On the way home, Savanah told me she had sand in places I didn't even know. I replied, "Honey, we all do."
